Wokingham Borough Council will be replacing the Central Reservation Vehicle Restraint Barriers (VRS) on the A3290 starting from the Thames Valley Park Roundabout towards Wokingham, for approx. 2km, in both directions (see map attached below). The work will be carried out in several stages and will require temporary closures as follows:
7th to 9th April 2026 – A3290 Westbound (towards Reading) (see map)
- Carriageway will be closed overnight from 9:30pm to 5:00am, from the slip road on Reading Road that leads onto the A3290, to Suttons Flyover, to carry out some carriageway surfacing work and installation of temporary vehicle barrier.
9th to 10th April 2026 – A3290 Eastbound (towards Wokingham) (aee map)
- Carriageway will be closed overnight from 9:30pm to 5am, from Thames Valley Park Roundabout to Winnersh off slip (leading to Reading Road), to carry out some carriageway surfacing work and installation of temporary vehicle barrier.
10th April to 17th July 2026 – A3290 Eastbound & Westbound (see map)
- Lane 2 will be protected by the temporary vehicle barrier for 24 hours a day, from the Thames Valley Park roundabout towards Wokingham for approx. 2.5km to protect the work force.
- Lane 1 of the main A3290 Eastbound & Westbound will remain open to traffic.
Once the main central reservation vehicle barrier replacement work is completed in July, both the A3290 Eastbound & Westbound will be closed again overnight to allow the removal of the temporary vehicle barrier. Currently, these are programmed to be as below:
13th to 14th July 2026 – A3290 Westbound (towards Reading) &
14th to 15 July 2026 – A3290 Eastbound (towards Wokingham)
