Following a meeting between Wokingham Borough Council and Earley Town Council, Wokingham Borough Council has acknowledged that parking issues associated with football at Laurel Park, do not fall under the remit of the Town Council.
It has also been acknowledged, in view of recent football parking at Maiden Place, that the Town Council does not own or manage parking spaces at this location, it only has rights over the very small area of parking associated with Maiden Place Community Centre, an area which provides parking for hirers of the community centre.
Wokingham Borough Council, as the landowner and operator of Laurel Park has accepted that it is not within Earley Town Council’s gift to resolve the long-running parking problems associated with the football traffic at this WBC site and that this fact will be recognised in any future discussions the borough council may have on the matter.
