Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) are preparing for the replacement of the current blue bag system with black wheeled rubbish bins.
WBC will be delivering wheeled rubbish bins from late May 2024, however collections will not start until August 2024. Until wheeled bin collections start, you should continue putting your rubbish out in your blue bags as normal. WBC will be delivering 20 blue bags to households in February and March 2024 to keep you going until your collections change.
From August 2024, WBC will start emptying your wheeled bin every fortnight, instead of weekly bag collections. You’ll need to check your rubbish collection day as this may change once switched to the fortnightly schedule – dates will be available on the WBC website.
Your wheeled bin will hold 180 litres, about two full blue bags’ worth of rubbish.
Recycling from your usual green bags will be collected every other week.
Your food waste collection will remain weekly and the optional garden waste collections will remain fortnightly.
