Charity coffee morning
Celebrate the Coronation at Lower Earley Library on Friday 5 May. Enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes from 10am to 12.30pm. This is a free event, but there will be a raffle and the event is helping to raise funds for The Hygiene Bank, which helps those who are unable to afford everyday essential products. There will also be a visit from Dr Bike.
Also included in this event is a royal reminiscence session, which runs from 10.30am to 12noon. Visitors can drop in and chat with a friendly volunteer about their memories of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and other royal events, while looking ahead to the Coronation of King Charles III.
Celebrate the Coronation by picking up a free packet of seeds from your local library. The seeds will be for wildflowers in red, while and blue colours and they must be sown in May. When they have flowered, email pictures to [email protected] and they will post the results on our social media pages. There will be a small prize for the best photo.
Find out more about reusable period products
If you are interested in finding out more about reusable period products, there is a workshop being held at Lower Earley Library later this month.
The session will be run by All Yours, which seeks to tackle period poverty and educate people about the alternatives available.
The workshop, which will run from 2pm to 3.30pm on Tuesday 23 May, is designed to talk through the benefits and drawbacks of reusable products.
This is a free event and there will be samples available to take away, as well as the chance to ask questions. Registration is required via our library events website
Lower Earley Library is looking for volunteers who would be interested in testing the audio resources. There are a large number of audiobook CDs that need to be checked to ensure discs are not damaged. You would need to collect a selection from the library and listen to them at your leisure.
Cosy coffee mornings
The next free monthly coffee morning at Lower Earley Library is taking place on Monday 22nd May from 10am to 11.30am.
These coffee mornings are open to all. Tea, coffee and biscuits are served and there are volunteers on site if you would like to sit and chat.
