Road Safety in Silverdale Road, Earley

Following a recent collision involving a school pupil, Earley Town Council’s Planning Committee has agreed to write to the highway authority, Wokingham Borough Council, asking for an in-depth study to be carried out in relation to the current road safety issues in, and in the vicinity of Silverdale Road and to consider what safety measures could be put in place to alleviate these issues, especially at school drop off and pick up times, which have become increasingly busy.

The Chairman of the Committee, Councillor Geoff Littler says, “There are various conflicts between all highway users, particularly in the vicinity of the entrance/exit to Maiden Erlegh Secondary School and Aldryngton Primary School, the shopping parade, the entrance/exit for Tesco and the junction of Sevenoaks Road, which need to be fully investigated”.

On completion of any study, Earley Town Council is requesting that the Borough Council carries out a full public consultation on any proposed safety measures.
