It is with a heavy heart that Earley Town Council have made the decision to cancel this year’s Green Fair, we are sure that like last year, everyone will appreciate the reasons why.
As we are all still facing much uncertainty with regards the Coronavirus pandemic and with the lifting of restrictions being delayed until 19th July, it is impossible for the Council to predict what restrictions may be lifted and what may remain in place. An event as big as the Green Fair takes a lot of organisation and the Council would be left with little time to prepare should some restrictions remain in place.
Also other issues such as increasing infection rates, the Delta variant and local surge testing have been taken into consideration, as well as the safety of our staff and visitors, some of whom will not have been double vaccinated by the date of the Green Fair. So regrettably with this all in mind, the Council are unable to go ahead with the Green Fair this year.
Earley Town Council and its officers would like to reassure everyone that we remain fully committed to holding the event in the future and committed to local environmental/green issues and will continue to support local groups whenever possible.
The Town Council hope to organise some small scale green themed activities over the next few months.
