On 25th June 2020, Earley Town Council will lower their flag to half-mast in memory of George Floyd, a month after his death, as a sign of solidarity with BAME people everywhere. I hope we all realise that Black Lives Matter and that discrimination, by race, sex, disability or bias is abhorrent. At Earley Town Council we stand for justice, truth, equality and fairness, believing that all people, whatever their colour, are equal, so deserving the same respect and value as anyone else. We are horrified by the death of George Floyd in a violent, racist, fashion. We hope that the public outcry to this event will bring a justified change to the treatment of BAME people in every society.
