Igniting Writing is leading a creative writing competition it’s called ‘Illustration Inspiration’ and it has over 400 published children’s book illustrators involved. Each of them has kindly contributed a piece of their art to a gallery on Flickr – anyone entering the contest gets to pick out three illustrations from the gallery and write a story that links them together, with a chance to add their own illustrations too. It’s a great opportunity for any creative young writers out there to write a story with art from professionals! There are even prizes on offer for the best entry, so to view the gallery and see the rules for entering, click here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ignitingwriting.
Igniting Writing’s regular creative writing sessions are still taking place, running once per month (held online due to lockdown restrictions). If any of your group members want to join in with our sessions, a parent or guardian can contact Elizabeth McDonald, the Wokingham Library Young People and Families Outreach Manager, on [email protected] to request the link for their son/daughter to dial in.
