On Thursday 8th August, Mayor of Earley, Cllr Mike Smith, officially opened the newly transformed Collins Drive Play Area with local residents joining in the celebration.
The play area, which had fallen into a state of disrepair, was transferred to Earley Town Council in July 2023 along with other open spaces within the development. On transfer, the Town Council assured local residents that a new play area was top priority for the site.
After consulting with residents, we were able to put together a detailed specification, and it was Proludic who were selected to bring this to life. Their design offered so much variety whilst staying true to the community feel of the site, and their selection of materials were natural in appearance but built to last.
The new play area features: a climbing frame with slide, a selection of swings, a roundabout, a balance beam, a seesaw, a springer, a climbing hut and play panels. Additionally, the surfacing has been renovated, improved seating installed and the fence replaced. The play area now provides an inviting, fun and safe space for toddlers and young children to play, learn and develop.
