ABOUT THE PLAY CLUB

The Town Council run a Summer Playclub particularly suitable for working parents in need of a childminding facility for all or part of the School Holidays.  The numbers able to attend are statutorily limited to 32 and accordingly, if permitted numbers are reached at anytime, places will be allocated on first come first served basis.  You may however secure places by applying direct to the Town Council Offices enclosing the correct booking fee.  Please use the form overleaf for all registration applications.  Charges for attendance are £7.50 per session for the first child (£15.00 per day) and £6.50 per session for additional children (£13.00 per day). Priority in booking is given to applications by Earley residents and pupils until 30th June 2008Please note we are unable to take credit cards or telephone bookings.

THE CHILDREN ACT 1989

Under the provisions of the Act, the Town Council is required to publish a Policy Statement.  This should be read before completion of a registration form.

1.  Earley Town Council’s Playclub is run by the Council’s Amenities and Leisure Committee for 5-11 year olds in the School Summer holidays for the purpose of providing structured play in a comfortable setting.  The children are fully supervised.

2.  The Town Council interviews and appoints staff annually from persons suitable for the task.  The Club is registered with Ofsted.  Each member of staff working in the Playwork Section has to agree to Police and Health checks and to sign a statement of suitability and a non discrimination declaration.

4.  The Town Council is an Equal Opportunities employer.  Equal Opportunities policies apply also fully to participants.

5.  Your signature on the registration form will be taken as consent for the staff to administer first aid or to seek medical attention for the child in emergencies.

6. Outings may be arranged for which separate fees and consent forms are required.

7. The Town Council has strict Health and Safety Policy guidelines which include instructions on fire drills, first aid, safety of equipment, etc.  A copy of the guidelines is available from the Council Offices on request.  The application form is part of that procedure for which reason all questions must be fully answered.

8. Parents have a right to seek information from the site supervisor on the activities programmed for the Children.

9. It is a requirement of the Clubs that children are collected no later than the publicised times.  Staff must be informed in advance if any person other than the parent/guardian will be collecting them.  The Clubs are run on a non-authoritarian, non violent basis, but registration is acceptance of decisions made by staff regarding persistent bad behaviour.

10. It is a condition of registration that parents/guardians agree to keep children away from the Club if advised to do so by a doctor or by our staff.

11. Drugs and medicines of any description cannot be administered by our staff unless there are very exceptional circumstances, the treatment is prescribed by the child’s doctor and written permission is provided by the parent/guardian.

12. Site supervisors or staff at the Council Offices (986 8995) are available to discuss your child’s individual needs, or if you have any other enquiries.

13. Fees are normally non-refundable and sessions cannot be altered before or during the running of the schemes.
